Engaged Colleagues = Better Customer Service and Overall Business Performance

Regardless of their role, engaged colleagues go above and beyond to deliver an exceptional experience for our customers, partners, and colleagues. There are four key business elements where engagement level shows a clear correspondence to outcomes.

When engaged, colleagues are more likely to be attentive and responsive to customer needs, resulting in higher customer satisfaction. Engaged employees are also more productive, motivated to contribute their best efforts, and more likely to take initiative in their tasks. This heightened sense of commitment often results in higher-quality work, as engaged colleagues are more focused on delivering excellence and are more likely to innovate and improve processes or products. Lastly, employee engagement fosters a positive work environment, reducing turnover and absenteeism and enhancing team cohesion. These elements collectively contribute to a stronger organizational culture, driving long-term success and sustainability. By investing in our colleagues’ engagement, we improve individual performance and strengthen our organization’s overall health and resilience.

Обслуговування клієнтів
Becoming the best customer service company in the world – our vision – hinges on several critical elements. Engaged colleagues top the list. Regardless of their role, these colleagues are committed to delivering an exceptional customer, partner, and colleague experience. Over the past several years, Greif has achieved world-class levels in its Net Promoter Score and colleague engagement. This correlation is evident, as facilities with high colleague engagement significantly increased customer satisfaction scores by seven points in 2024.
Фінансові показники
Across our more than 250 facilities, we have found that those with higher engagement scores also have higher NPS scores and perform better financially. The reason is simple: colleagues who are part of a high-performing team and feel that their company is meeting their needs are safer, more productive, more innovative, and more committed to quality.  In 2024, this translated to 42% fewer safety incidents, 46% less unplanned downtime, and a 30% improvement in day-to-day operations. To put it plainly, we know that when we take care of our colleagues, our colleagues take care of our business.
Безпека
As a people-first company, Greif places the highest priority on the safety and well-being of its colleagues. Through our Zero Harm efforts, we are dedicated to ensuring that every colleague has the proper training, equipment, and support to perform their jobs safely and efficiently. While safety at Greif involves numerous initiatives, one of the most crucial aspects is colleague engagement. In 2024, facilities with high colleague engagement scores experienced 42% fewer safety incidents than less engaged facilities across the industry.
Culture
Culture is often seen as a corporate buzzword. Still, it has a simple and profound definition: colleagues’ shared values and beliefs guide our discretionary behavior in ways that are beneficial for the sustained excellence of our company.  Guided by the Greif Way, which emphasizes servant leadership, action bias, and belonging, we recognize that our people make this possible daily. While anyone can create a packaging solution, no one can replicate our engaged colleagues in the marketplace.  Our data shows that teams led by engaged managers have an engagement ratio of 8 to 1, more than double the ratio of teams led by disengaged managers. In other words, when we provide colleagues with what they need, they return the favor by creating and maintaining a culture that enables us to set and achieve ambitious goals.
