The Tacoma Mill located in Washington, USA recently celebrated the 40th service anniversary of Paul Medford, a cherished member of their team.
Paul’s career began on May 14, 1984, as a Journeyman Mechanic at Containerboard Corporation of America. In 1994, he was promoted to Maintenance Department Lead. Then the department expanded in 2007 to include Electricians and Mechanics, and Paul took on the role of Lead Journeyman Electrician. Even though he has reached this long-term service anniversary, Paul is not retiring yet.
Throughout his tenure, Paul witnessed the company evolve through three acquisitions—from Containerboard Corporation of America to Jefferson Smurfit Corporation, then to Caraustar, and finally to Greif.
Paul’s colleagues fondly refer to him as a walking encyclopedia regarding the Tacoma Mill. He is the go-to expert on the plant’s machinery. He knows the installation dates, purposes, and operations of each machinery piece. Whenever there is talk of modifying equipment, Paul’s insights are invaluable and highly sought after by his colleagues.
Paul and his wife, Delores, have been married for over 55 years and they have 5 grown children. Their youngest son, Zachary Medford, also works for Greif at the Tacoma Mill.
