Greif recently attended the annual Peanut & Tree Nut Processors Association (PTNPA) convention in Palm Springs, California where it proudly showcased its unique Vacuumized Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs).
The low cost all-in-one Vacuumized FIBC concept from Greif offers a simple and effective method of packing commodities in high barrier liners under vacuum, modified atmosphere packaging and/or hermetic conditions. The system works particularly well for products, such as nuts, that are highly sensitive to oxygen and humidity.
“The annual convention afforded us an excellent opportunity to meet with industry colleagues and potential customers, to learn the latest trends and insights for the nut industry, and to share our own expertise in the market,” said Can Sezer, global commercial manager.
“We were pleased by the high level of interest we received in our Vacuumized FIBCs from growers, producers, packers and distributors from across the nut industry,” said Sezer. “We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to visit us at the convention and look forward to developing these relationships further.”
Greif has successfully introduced the Vacuumized FIBC concept to five of its largest food and feed customers in Belgium and the Netherlands, France, Turkey, Mexico and Brazil for products such as cashew and macadamia nuts, dried fruit and rice, potato flakes and corn/maize.
Due to the high speed and simplicity of the system, the Vacuumized FIBC concept is easy to integrate into an existing production process and/or logistics program.
Major advantages of the system include:
- Extend shelf-life
- Stabilize moisture
- Avoid mold and fungus growth
- Retain flavors, aromas and color
- Reduce breakages
- Allow non-chemical insect treatment
- Prevent re-infestation
- Reduce storage costs
- Reduce investment in warehousing
- Reduce size/volume of bags
