According to the World Bank, women earn just 77 cents for every $1 paid to a man, with this rights gap extending all the way to retirement.
Women also tend to live longer than men, but because they receive lower pay while they work, take time off when they have children, and retire earlier, they end up with smaller pension benefits and greater financial insecurity in old age.
We are working to overcome this issue across the business and are pleased to say that global pay parity has been achieved at Greif. This means that all those in the same job and location receive equal pay. We remain completely committed to this going forward and will always strive to provide equal opportunities and raise awareness of the gendered inequalities that persist around the world.
The Power of Grief's Women Network
We’re endlessly proud of Greif’s Women Network (GWN), which is on a mission to create a diverse and inclusive environment, working together to inspire, connect and develop the women of Greif and enable greater success for the business as a whole. This enhances and supports female experiences and contributions, elevating diverse perspectives from across the organization.
In 2023, the GWN conducted various fantastic activities. For instance, they:
- Continued the Leading Women series with a spotlight event featuring Kim Kellerman, Vivian Bouet and Tina Schoner in a panel discussion around building resiliency and self-advocacy skills.
- Held their third annual event on gender equality, focused on engagement, representation and pay equity.
- Delivered impactful events with their local chapters (APAC, EMEA and LATAM), with speakers aligned to the specific needs of each region.

GWN – and the fantastic work it does – is just one example of the brilliant CRGs we have operating across Greif.
Other groups include Black Employees Engaging at Greif (BEE@Greif), ¡HOLA!, NextGen, EDGE, PRIDE, and VETS.
